smiling beauty
the soft tender lips of shyness
that smiled when i saw it coming least
in the midst of remote happiness
of couples not connected
her bounty shone forth
in great joy i reacted
in amazement was i refreshed
when i pondered life’s possibility
i considered the folly of romance
and realized the reality of beauty
when it is expected least
and seen as never before
was the red in her lips as her buck teeth
shone forth in ample hesitation
held back inside
caught unawares in the instinct so
uncommon to a female
